Diathermy is a therapeutic method that uses high-frequency electromagnetic fields to reactivate normal reparative and anti-inflammatory processes by stimulating energy from within biological tissues. 

The generation of endogenous energy within the tissues occurs through the attraction of electrical charges in the treated area, which are present in the form of ions.

Thanks to this principle, a very strong stimulation is generated at cellular level that increases the internal temperature and reactivates the circulation, thus triggering the natural repair processes.

These features have given extremely satisfactory clinical results in the field of physiotherapy and traumatology.

Ultrasound scans represent the situation at the time of trauma and after four IMC sessions with automatic active plate. The sessions, with a bi-weekly frequency of a duration of 30 minutes each, were carried out only and exclusively with the automatic capacitive electrodes with a frequency of 1 MHz.

OPERATING MODE: Active plate on the site of injury, neutral plate in opposition, power 25% of availability.

Temperature perceived by the patient: pleasant warmth throughout the session.

In the proximal third of the right rectus femoris muscle there is an anechogenic area with sharp margins measuring 44.3 mm in longitudinal scan.

This is compatible with an effusion, probably hematic, secondary to direct contusive trauma.

At the proximal third of the right rectus femoris muscle there is complete resolution of the previously observed effusion.

Gradual resumption of sport (hydrokinesiotherapy, isometric exercises and then concentric/eccentric training) is recommended.

The MRI shows the effect got after one month of treatments, total twelve sessions, by using working protocols with automatic capacitive plates and the resistive electrode, at 1 MHz frequency

The patient was treated with dVinci using the manual resistive electrode, at low power and a frequency of 1 MHz, for 15 minutes, followed by the manual capacitive electrode for a further 15 minutes.

Sessions of 30 minutes each took place twice a week.

Temperature felt by the patient: pleasant warmth throughout the session.

Ultrasonography of the right medial calf, the painful area, shows a small hypoechogenic area next to the muscle, extending about 8 mm, in the inner part, possibly due to a local muscle injury. In addition, a slight hypoechogenic area can be seen in the lower area of the muscle, close to the muscle fascia, possibly fluid blood.

There is still a small hypoechogenic area of the left medial calf, approximately 2 mm in size, which also shows fibre consolidation, with no valuable intra or peri-injury fluid flap.

Male patient with a muscular distractive lesion who underwent six treatments with CIM using the automatic capacitive plate. The sessions, six in total, twice a week, each lasting 30 minutes, were carried out exclusively with the automatic capacitive electrodes with a frequency of 1 MHz.

Longitudinally there is distortion of the myofibrillar echo-structure of medium degree.

Picture compatible with 2nd degree distractive muscular injury.

In the area previously observed, the effusion has disappeared and the myofibrillar echo-structure has completely recovered. This picture is compatible with the results of a previous distractive muscular lesion, now stabilised.

Sports activity (differentiated training) can be started.
